Olympic Dumbell Storage
During the COVID 19 Pandemic, I set up a home gym. One of the cheapest ways to get heavy dumbells is to use Olympic Dumbells. These are handles that you can put Olympic plates onto and create what ever weight dumbells you want. I bought some of these to create some variety within my strength training and needed a way to store them that was presentable and practical.
I had also previously built a small unit to store some other gym stuff and developed a piece that could be screwed into that
After a few hours of modeling in fusion 360 I came up with the following:
From here I printed it in Black PLA with a realtively high infill (around 80%). As it just needs to be strong enough to balance the dumbell upright, the dumbells weigh about 5kg each empty so I felt PLA would be strong enough. The finished product ended up looking like so:
Overall I'm happy with how the final product came out, and it has lasted well so far. Its been going strong for over one year now. Just to reiterate it is not really load bearing!
